BRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Just like that, mother nature snapped her fingers and the cold weather is here! Wheel Fast made sure to stock up on all of the winter riding necessities. Long sleeve jersesys, jackets, gloves, shoe covers, leg and arm warmers, knickers, tights, hats, and wool socks are all in stock.

Our personal favorites include the Specialized Roubaix fleece lined knickers and tights as well as the therminal windproof bibs to keep that chill out while on the bike. Wool socks are the perfect way to keep your toes extra warm on those cool mornings. Also, the Castelli jerseys and jackets fit like a dream and insulate as well as breathe to give you the perfect balance while getting some miles in this winter.

Riding outdoors in the bitter cold not your thing?? We don’t blame you!!! We have plenty of trainers in stock from CycleOps and Lemond Fitness. Our trainers start at $160 and are a great way to maintain your cycling fitness during the cold season. They are extremely easy to set up, will fit nearly every bike, and fold up very small for easy storage. We’ve heard that they also make excellent Christmas gifts!!! Introducing the 2012 Specialized Venge! This gorgeous bicycle is the first in a rather new category for Specialized. Aerodynamic road bikes have gained a huge amount of popularity in the past year or two. We live in the midwest…we don’t have many hills, but we always have wind so we will take any advantage we can! Specialized engineered this bike to have larger ovalized carbon fiber tubes to aerodynamically cut through the wind while still keeping the weight of the frame down. They have done serious amounts of wind tunnel testing and testing with professional athletes. This is Mark Cavendish’s bike for cryin out loud! That has to say something…. This bike is fast!!!

The Venge comes equipped with the brand new Shimano Di2 Ultegra. This is an electronic shifting component group that has revolutionized the industry. The Di2 Ultegra shifts perfectly each time, even while standing on the pedals. The lithium ion battery lasts for well over 1000 miles and once the group is set up it requires very little maintenence. The new Di2 Ultegra is even cheaper than the mechanical Shimano Dura-Ace (the highest end group). Specialized even threw in a 45 mm carbon fiber Roval wheelset to make the Venge even faster. A few road bikes to choose from, a single speed Raleigh, two Giant escapes in great shape, a very nice Giant Rincon mountain bike with hydraulic disc brakes, a ladies Raleigh and ladies Trek comfort bikes. Trainers are HERE! Its that time again…the weather is getting colder and colder, the days are getting shorter and shorter. Here at Wheel Fast we stocked up on some of the best trainers on the market from Cyclops and Lemond Fitness. The Lemond Revolution is a new product for us and simulates road riding very well. This unique trainer is very easy to set up and all you have to do is take off your back wheel, hook the bike up, and pedal! Stop in and take it for a test ride….its pretty neat! We also ordered four models of trainers from Cyclops including the wind, mag, magneto, and fluid. These start at $160 and up as the flywheel on the trainer gets nicer. Riser blocks are also available and a nice way to level the front and back of the bike while using a trainer. The Sunlite riser block is single position riser block while the Cyclops riser block features three different heights to customize your ride. Stay in shape this winter and come in to find the trainer thats right for you!

Our newest addition to the family: Salsa Cycles. These bikes are made to take you anywhere you are willing to ride. The Chili Con Crosso is Salsa’s aluminum cyclocross bike. Cyclocross is a road race….off road. This sport has gained popularity in the U.S. in the past decade or so. The Chili Con Crosso is built with a tapered headtube to strengthen and stiffen the ride.

The Chili does not skimp on other features either…It includes a BB30 crankset, Salsa Cowbell bars, Cane Creek Headset, Sram Rival components and a Paul Components chain keeper to run 1×10 gearing. Yes, it does come with a single speed capable droupout as well.

Other favorites include the Vaya and Casseroll. The Vaya is a cyclocross/touring model. It comes equipped with rack and fender mounts as well as a slightly more upright geometry to take on longer road/gravel rides. The Casseroll is setup more for road touring and exploring both paved and unpaved roads. Both are built with Salsa’s “classico” chromoly tubing for that great steel ride quality!

The sun has been setting earlier and earlier. The same as every year, the summer has come and gone way too fast! Last week was the last Wednesday night ride because it was almost pitch black when we finished. We had a great time with everyone this year on our Wednesday night rides. We thank all of those that came out and showed their support for our store. We had some seasoned veterans with us as well as some brand new riders that came out. We hope for our group to get bigger and bigger every year and have a good/safe time out doing what we all love: riding our bikes!!!
